The Liturgy Committee includes all the leaders of the ministries at Sunday Liturgy: MCs, Lectors, Hospitality Ministers, Altar Servers, Musicians, Sacristans, Art and Environment, and Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. The Liturgy Committee assist the Pastor in planning for the special liturgies of Sunday, Easter, and Christmas.

We, the Saint Mary Magdalene Liturgical Ministries, support our pastor as he leads the faithful to a full, conscious and active participation in our public worship, especially the celebration of the Eucharist. With God’s grace, our humble efforts will help all people grow in knowledge and love of Jesus Christ and spread the Gospel of Hope.

Liturgical Ministry Coordinators serve a two-year term; they fulfill the needs of their individual ministries and work together with other committee members to help our Pastor offer a liturgy that reflects the richness of our Roman Catholic faith and its ageless traditions.

Liturgical ministers receive Diocesan Formation, through the workshops offered for each ministry, and Parish Formation, through practical training in each ministry here at SMM. Ministers should attend the Parish Minister Formation Program (PMFP) offered by the San Bernardino Diocese. Ministers also attend the parish Advent and Lenten Retreats. Liturgy Committee members read and study the General Instruction of the Roman Missal and apply lessons learned to their ministries.

Father Vincent Au and the past Lifelong Formation Coordinator Claudia Avila formed the liturgy committee in January 2012. For the first year, we met each month, spending time in each gathering for prayer, formation and planning.  In 2013, we decided to meet as a committee from January-April and November-December to execute planning for our Christmas and Easter seasons and meet within our ministries from May-October to work within our individual ministries, meeting the needs for our regular weekly liturgies.
